International

BonteHond is a Dutch theatregroup. But we’ve always been open to broadening our horizons, both mentally and physically. In the past we’ve toured internationally with productions like ‘Wanted: Rabbit’, ‘iPet’, ‘GET’M’ and ‘SUPERSLOW’ to countries like Belgium, India, The US, Turkey and Italy. Our current performance WOW! is Language No Problem and therefore very suitable for both a young (2.5+) as well as an international audience.

About us

BonteHond is a Dutch theatre group and makes bold and accessible theatre for everyone for more than 20 years. We are based in Almere, the youngest city go the Netherlands, and weperform at theatres, festivals, schools and other special places with performances on topics we can all relate to. Besides theatre BonteHond makes books, podcasts, films, workshops and more to watch, listen, read and do at home or in the classroom. Because we think more is more.

We are always eager to expand our horizons, both mentally and physically. In the past we’ve toured internationally with productions like Wanted Rabbit, iPet, GET’M and SUPERSLOW through countries like India, The US and Turkey. WOW! has been performed at Edinburgh International Children’s Festival and at other international venues and festivals. In recent years we have shifted our international focus to more durable connections and long-term exchanges. In addition to touring, we enjoy finding new ways to share inspiration, values, knowledge and expertise interculturally. A great way to develop artistically and allow cultural diversity to sink in even more deeply into our DNA.

Fun fact: ‘BonteHond’ is a name you could give to an eccentric person, an underdog who doesn’t fit in. Even more fun: the literal translation of ‘BonteHond’ is ‘Colourful Dog’.

WOW! (Dutch translation WAUW!)

WOW! is a musical performance with a lot of dance and shows the world through the eyes of toddlers and pre-schoolers. Because they think everything is ‘WOW!’, even their own reflection in a store window. Adults can be easily annoyed by a falling plant pot for instance whereas young children are more interested in the earthworms that emerge. The world of adults is mostly black and white while children see much more color.

WOW! shows that things that seem ordinary or even as a barrier are often much more interesting, exciting, and beautiful than we initially think. The WOW factor is almost always there if we look close enough.

WOW! is a performance for toddlers and preschoolers (children aged 2.5 to 6 y).

This performance is without spoken language. Language no problem.

Alongside our international tours, we actively engage in new artistic exchanges. If you would like to discuss exchange options with us, feel free to send us an email.
