PRIKKELS (Sensations)

An interactive performance that puts your inner world in the spotlight.

Due to its great success, PRIKKELS is returning for a second season!

Dive into a world of sensory stimuli and explore the sensations that make you wiggle, fidget, or feel butterflies in your stomach — as well as those that make you freeze or want to hide. Why do some sensations feel good while others don’t? And is it the same for everyone? Find out in PRIKKELS!

Three performers take you on a physical and musical journey into the world of the senses. Together with the audience, they explore the different feelings triggered by sensory input and discover what we need to feel at ease, recover, and process these sensations. How do we tune in to one another? How do we discover what we enjoy? The performance is partly interactive, so there is no need to worry about sitting still the whole time!

PRIKKELS marks the first collaboration between BonteHond and Schweigman&. The partnership has been a resounding success. In 2025, PRIKKELS was nominated for the Hart voor Hoogsensitiviteit-award as well as for the Gouden Krekel 2026 and the Podiumkids Prize 2026. As a result, the show is returning for the 2026–2027 season.

A performance without labels

Young people seem to be struggling with overstimulation and burnout more and more often. At the same time, behaviours are increasingly being assigned labels and diagnoses such as ADHD, ADD, autism spectrum disorder, dyslexia, high sensitivity, and more.

In this performance, we start from the idea that everyone has their own unique way of processing sensory input. Even without a diagnosis, it can be incredibly valuable to become aware of how you experience the world, what kind of sensory input you need, when it becomes too much, and how you process and recover from it.

By getting to know yourself in this way, you can also better understand that things may work very differently for someone else, and that this is perfectly okay.

ABOUT BONTEHOND

BonteHond is the youth theatre company of Almere / Flevoland. We make anarchistic and physical theatre for all ages. Our work always bends reality and refuses to be boxed in. Since our ‘birth’ in 2005, we’ve grown considerably. We perform from Almere to Bangalore — in theatres and football clubhouses, at summer festivals and busy schools.
