SPOT THE DIFFERENCES

12

What does it do to you when your parents don’t look like you—or you don’t look like your parents? For example, if you have one white and one Black parent? Or two white parents, and you’re Black. How do you form your own identity when it feels like no one looks like you?

SPOT THE DIFFERENCES is a darkly humorous game show where we test whether your parents are actually suitable to be your parents—and how special or ordinary they really are. Thrilling games will determine whether your mother resembles you enough, and whether you resemble her. Because that’s a requirement. You have to look alike—if not, something’s wrong, and you might as well live somewhere else. The game show SPOT THE DIFFERENCES is the ultimate test with the most beautiful prize of all: you!

After SUPERSLOW (2021), STRAF (2022), SINGCITY (2023), DE ZIJLIJN (2024), and WAUW! (2025), Judith Faas now presents SPOT THE DIFFERENCES. A performance born from her own life. Her daughter has a white mother (Judith) and a Black father. Mother and daughter strongly resemble each other, yet also don’t—because of their different skin colors. And they’re often confronted with that. Judith is still asked whether her daughter is her biological child or adopted. Her daughter experiences forms of racism that Judith herself never faces. The conversations Judith had with her daughter about this are at the heart of this performance.
